Wastewater treatment

In progress

Since 2021, the Municipality has been working to bring about the construction of a wastewater treatment plant that will ultimately serve the urban area of Morin-Heights.

In 2016, during the renovation of the Village water system, sanitary sewer lines were also installed and are ready to be put into service as soon as a wastewater treatment plant is built and connected to the existing lines.

This is a major, large-scale project that is vital to the municipality in the long term for the preservation of its environment, particularly in the village center and for the Rivière-à-Simon ecosystem.

The project is intended to enable all affected property owners to replace their septic tanks with a connection to the municipal sewer system at a cost equal to or less than the cost of replacing the septic tank itself.

Currently, the Municipality is taking steps to secure the necessary funding for the project. It must be able to obtain the equivalent of 90% of the estimated costs in government grants for this project to be economically viable.

As developments in this matter unfold, updates on this major project will be provided.
