Master Plan for Parks, Green Spaces and Trails

In progress

Recreational areas - parks, green spaces and trails - contribute to a community's quality of life and support its leisure and recreation needs.

As the ‘Capital of Cross-Country Skiing’, the Municipality of Morin-Heights has long enjoyed a favourable reputation when it comes to recreation, particularly in winter. For almost 100 years, Morin-Heights has stood out and distinguished itself thanks to its vast network of cross-country ski trails, which are frequented by many skiers every year. Over time, the trail network has diversified to accommodate a multitude of activities (hiking, mountain biking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, cross-country/nordic skiing, etc.).

The purpose of this Master Plan for Parks, Green Spaces and Trails is to provide the Municipality of Morin-Heights with a working tool for planning its recreational spaces in the short and long term. With this plan, the Municipality confirms its desire to offer the population a recreational network adapted to current and future needs, which will benefit all its residents as well as the many visitors who discover the area via this network.

In keeping with the municipality's mission, vision and objectives, the Master Plan for Parks, Green Spaces and Trails combines the assets of the municipality's identity and territory, as well as various challenges and constraints. It proposes priority actions to be implemented to enhance and ensure the sustainability of this exceptional network.

Active communication with the residence is critical to maintaining a robust to connected network trail for skiing and hiking.
